Did you know?
Dinoflagellates, a member of the smallest phylum of Pyrrophyta, is found in both fresh and saltwater and serves as the food for aquatic heterotrophs. Certain species produce red pigments that make the water colored with red. When producing rapidly, it causes "red tide" that can poison fish. It happens mostly in summer where algae reproduction is at its peak.
